Hard Road was a group from Newcastle N.B. 1972-1978 which included Roland Buckley lead guitar/vocals,Gary Hare keyboard/vocals,Carter Dickson/ bass and Mike Lifsches/drums. The group performed covers of songs by groups such as The Allman Brothers,Deep Purple,Steppinwolf,The Beatles,Sawyer Brown,Johnny Winter ,The Dobbie Brothers,Cream,The Rolling Stones,Alice Cooper etc.the year was 1972.After rehearsing to go on tour Carter Dickson left the group and was replaced by the lead guitarist from Polyannas Dreamworld Art Murphy who now was their bass player.The group had one more change when Mike Lifsches left the group to be replaced by Frank MacDonald from Chatham N.B. The group had various changes from 1972-1978.The two members that were the same through the years were Roland Buckley and Art Murphy.The group recorded the song"Love Potion No 9"and flip side an original called"Not Here With Me"on Interpro Records of Canada in 1976.Members of the group now live in Miramichi N.B.,Ottawa Ontario,Thunder Bay Ontario,Vancouver B.C.,Halifax Nova Scotia,Edmundston N.B.,Montreal Quebec.Keep checking this site for updates and more historical facts on this classic Canadian recording rock group from New Brunswick.Some of the members over the years included:Bill Coughlan/drums,Roger Brideau/drums,Jacques Leveseaur from band Col Frizbie/drums,John Nantel/drums.In 1977 the group moved to Calgary Alberta then to Vancouver B.C.and then back to Calgary where in 1978 the band broke up and members went there seperate ways.HARD ROAD had articles in magazines such as Rock Scene from New York USA,BMI Canada and Jive Times magazine in Toronto in 1976 to name a few. They also appeared in numerous newspaper articles from across the country and did many radio interviews on both sides of the border.
